About Brody the Brave

In March 2025, husband and wife Lauren and Marcel were on holiday in Cuba when the unthinkable happened: Lauren went into preterm labour at just 24 weeks pregnant.

Their son, Brody, was born in a local hospital in Matanzas. Though the doctors did all they could to keep him alive, Brody sadly passed away just a few days after he was born.

While Brody was in an incubator, Lauren told him a story about a baby dragon whose lungs were too small to breathe fire. After he passed away, she wrote Brody the Brave in his memory and to raise funds to help other babies like him.

All the proceeds from Brody the Brave go to the Brody the Brave Foundation for Preterm Babies, dedicated to providing hospitals in low-income settings with life-saving equipment for preterm and newborn babies.

The money will be used to provide resuscitation kits (which include Bag Valve Masks and Pulse Oximeters) to hospitals in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the mortality rate of preterm babies is highest. A portion of the funding will also be donated to the hospital in Matanzas, Cuba, where Brody was born.
